Barcelona could sign German superstar Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich in the next transfer window to strengthen their midfield and balance their defence.
After losing club legends Xavi and Iniesta the midfield of Barcelona has lost its spark. The signing of Joshua Kimmich from Bayern Munich might reignite the spark for the Spanish giants.
Over the last few seasons, Joshua Kimmich has matured into a budding superstar in Bayern Munich. The 25-year-old German international has gathered a lot of attention after being an integral part of his club as well as his country over the last few seasons.
Joshua Kimmich commenced his senior career for RB Leipzig in 2013 before joining for the German giants in 2015. Ever since joining Bayern Munich the German international has had the opportunity to play alongside many great midfielders such as Thomas Muller and Bastian Schweinsteiger who have helped him develop his career as a budding midfielder.
The 25-year-old maestro is extremely versatile and can play as a right-back and provide exceptional defensive support as well as a central midfielder who has magnificent dribbling and passing capabilities. The ability to play as a defender as well as a midfielder can also be seen in the German club legend Philpp Lahm who has been Joshua Kimmich’s role model while growing up.
Barcelona should sign Joshua Kimmich to provide depth as well as re-energise their overused midfield. The German international has great passing and dribbling abilities which would help provide more stability in Barcelona’s attacks as well as ease the pressure off Lionel Messi and Antonino Griezmann who have had to consistently drop back into midfield and create chances to attack.
Defensively the German international can help Barca by playing at right-back as well as undertake the role as a central defensive midfielder. Joshua Kimmich could also act as a long term replacement for Sergio Busquets who is coming to the end of his career.
Even though Kimmich has a contract for Bayern Munich till 2023 he should consider as a potential transfer target in the future.
